Project Summaries

 

  • Renewable Diesel Conversion Project

    Jōb Industrial Services was approached to perform the OSBL portion of the conversion at a Rocky Mountain Region refinery. We developed FEL 1,2,3, and detail engineering for the OSBL areas supporting the processing soy oil. Provided design that included feedstock and finished fuel systems, as well as all utilities and firewater systems. This work included all aspects of engineering, multidiscipline from process, piping/mechanical, C/S, E&I. This required a considerable effort to route and utilize existing refinery equipment.

  • Perchlorate Injection Project

    Jōb industrial Services was tasked to improve the catalyst life of the ultraformer reactors. Jōb performed the piping and E&I portion of the project. It was in an extremely congested area and was a major coordination effort that involved refinery engineering, operations, and construction. Jōb procured the instrumentation and other tagged equipment for the project.

  • Propane Dryer Project

    Jōb industrial Services was contacted by a Western Region refiner to repurpose existing vessels within the refinery to replace current salt dryers that have reached end of life. This project involved extensive pipe design and vessel modifications.

  • FCC Relief to Flare Project

    Jōb industrial Services was chosen to perform piping, mechanical, pipe stress and structural needs of the scope of work in an extremely congested area of a Western Region refiner. The goal was to optimize routing to minimize new supports to avoid major excavation efforts. Jōb prepared challenging pipe stress model to compensate for tower growth of 4” at 700 F. FCC ARV’s were routed to flare header to eliminate atmospheric relief.

  • Building Siting Project

    The Jōb Industrial Services C/S department was hired by a Western Region refiner to develop a TIC to examine multiple buildings in or around process units. Relocation or refurbish near or in the process units, will be required to bring up to current blast zone requirements.

  • Cooling Tower Project

    Scope was to replace a wooden cooling tower that was several decades old and beginning to collapse at a Western Region refiner. Jōb was involved in the OSBL electrical & instrumentation as well as structural work. It was a critical project with extensive field investigation and required a lot of coordination with the cooling tower supplier.

  • UP Railroad Piping Replacement Project

    Jōb Industrial Services was contracted to eliminate above ground piping that was routinely damaged by vehicles on a bridge on a well-traveled road/highway. Jōb provided engineering and design and an underground solution to move product safely to the UP-Railroad fuel tank in Boise, Idaho.

  • Crude & FCC Wash Water Upgrades

    Jōb Industrial Services was awarded the detail engineering by a south-central petroleum refining company to modify the existing wash water system at the Crude and FCC units that provided additional water to the overhead heat exchangers to improve equipment reliability.

  • Turnaround Support

    Jōb Industrial Services provided a mechanical and electrical engineering team to assist a Western Region refiner with development Turnaround packages. Once completed, the packages were issued to the site contractors for execution.

  • Boiler Upgrades

    The main boiler plant at a Rocky Mountain Region refiner has been in continuous operation for many decades. It was determined that a major outage was necessary to change main steam header valves and piping. Jōb Industrial Services provided engineering and design support to the maintenance group responsible for the execution of the work.

  • Crude Unit Debottlenecking

    The process group at Jōb Industrial Services performed extensive HYSYS modeling to understand required modifications to increase crude throughput from 30,000 BBL/day to 40,000 BBL/day for each Crude Unit operating train, for a south-central petroleum distributor.

  • 550 GPM Amine Unit Project

    Jōb Industrial Services performed the process design, 3-D detail design and procurement of major equipment and instrumentation. Jōb Industrial Services provided operator training and start up assistance for this Western Region refiner.

  • 32,000 CFM Belco Scrubber Project

    Jōb Industrial Services was contracted to perform ISBL balance of plant and OSBL engineering (process, detail design, PLC/DCS) and construction for a Rocky Mountain Region refiner.

  • 225,000 SCFH Flare Gas Unit Project

    Jōb Industrial Services executed the detail engineering and procurement contract for a 225,000 SCFH FGRU at an East Coast Region refiner. Jōb also provided PLC/DCS integration, trained the plant personnel, and provided start-up assistance.

  • P&ID Compliance Off-Sites and Process Units Plantwide Compliance Project

    Jōb Industrial Services on-site team field verified P&ID’s to as built conditions for the offsite areas of a Rocky Mountain Region refiner which included: Marketing Tanks, Flare, Wastewater, Railroad Loading Rack. 292 drawings in total. We completed 188 drawings and were able to re-draw/consolidate them to 74 in as built conditions. The Jōb on-site team field verified P&ID’s to as built conditions for the process unit areas of the refinery which included: HF Alky, Amine, Boilerhouse, Cooling water system, Crude, DHT, FCC, Gas Con, Isom, NHT, Plant fuel system, PLAT, SATS, SRU, Thisolve, and Treating.

  • Ejector Nozzle Sizing in an Induced Draft Fired Heater Stack

    CFD was used to simulate the amount of air flow rate that a steam driven ejector nozzle can induce in a fired heater stack. Simulation was used to optimize the flow patterns, nozzle size, ejector efficiency, steam flow rate, and induced air purge rate. Critical to the study also, the simulation provided insight regarding the maximum amount of pressure drop the design could overcome.

  • 49,000 CFM Belco Scrubber Project

    Jōb Industrial Services was contracted to perform ISBL balance of plant and OSBL engineering (process, detail engineering, PLC/DCS) at a Rocky Mountain Region refiner. This is a licensed wet gas scrubbing process for a petroleum refinery FCCU off-gas cleanup. The major goal was to scrub out SO2 and NOx emissions.

  • 30,000 CFM Belco Scrubber Project

    Jōb Industrial Services was contracted to perform ISBL balance of plant and OSBL engineering (process, detail design, PLC/DCS) and construction at a Rocky Mountain Region refiner.

  • Waste Heat Boiler Replacement

    Jōb Industrial Services was engaged to design a new replacement WHB for a SRU that exhibited multiple weld failures. The objective was to improve reliability through improved metallurgy and up to date standards for this south-central refiner.

  • Tail Gas Unit Upgrade

    Jōb Industrial Services completed conceptual and detailed engineering for upgrades to an older SCOT tail gas unit at a Rocky Mountain Region refiner. Scope included increasing capacity, addressing operating concerns and replacing corroded equipment. A new waste heat boiler, stripper tower, reboiler and overhead condenser were re-designed and replaced. Quench tower packing was upgraded, and the absorber had trays replaced with packing. Jōb also provided on-site construction management and start-up assistance.

  • Sulfur Plant Repair and Debottlenecking

    Jōb Industrial Services completed conceptual and detailed engineering for increasing capacity and replacing old equipment. Included were waste heat boiler and other upgrades for oxygen enrichment. Also included were a new sulfur condenser, and replacement of an old sulfur pit near collapse. Jōb provided on-site construction management and start-up assistance at a Rocky Mountain Region refiner.

  • SRU Debottlenecking Study

    Jōb Industrial Services completed an engineering study for debottlenecking the older of two sulfur plants at a Great Plains Region refiner. Included were new burner and thermal reactor specifications for oxygen enrichment. A new thermosiphon waste heat boiler with steam drum was also specified. Evaluations of the existing tail gas unit were also included.

  • Molten Sulfur Transfer Project

    Jōb Industrial Services was contracted to develop a FEL2 scope of work and estimate for an updated sulfur transfer station to improve railcar unloading and truck loading with intermediate storage capability.

  • Heavy Crude OSBL Project

    Jōb Industrial Services was contracted to engineer, procure and construct (EPC) the OSBL for the heavy crude refinery expansion for a Rocky Mountain Region refiner. This included 26 different projects. Some of those projects included the WX heavy Crude Piperack, unloading (both Rail and Truck), Utilities (Air, Water, Steam), RO System, BFW, Cooling Tower, DCS and Systems Integration Upgrade, Tankage, Integrating TG from the SRU and Incineration with the Belco Scrubber (replaces need for a costly TGU), Black Wax Dewatering System as well as complete process engineering support for the ISBL expansion.

  • 225,000 SCFH Flare Gas Unit Project

    Jōb Industrial Services performed the detail engineering on an EP contract for a 225,000 SCFH FGRU. Jōb Industrial Services also provided PLC/DCS integration, train the personnel, and provided start-up assistance at an East Coast Region refiner.

  • 17,500 BBL/Day Naphtha Splitter Project

    Jōb Industrial Services has completed an EPC contract that included the process design, 3D details design, procurement, and construction for a Rocky Mountain Region refiner.

  • 15,500 SCFM Belco Scrubber Project

    Jōb Industrial Services was contracted EPC to perform the engineering, 3D details design and construction for a Rocky Mountain Region refiner. The project was successfully completed within budget and schedule.

  • 7,000 BBL/Day Merox Unit Project

    Jōb Industrial Services completed the process design of major equipment and 3D design and the procurement of a 7,000 BBL/Day Merox Unit for a Rocky Mountain Region refiner. Jōb Industrial Services provided training and start-up assistance as well.

  • 7,000 BBL/Day LPG Unit Project

    Jōb Industrial Services completed the process, 3D detail design and procurement of major equipment for a Rocky Mountain Region refiner. Jōb Industrial Services provided training and start-up assistance.

  • 30,000 CFM Belco Scrubber Project

    Jōb Industrial Services was contracted EPC by a Rocky Mountain Region refiner to perform ISBL balance of plant and OSBL engineering (process, detail design, PLC/DCS) and construction.

  • 250 LTPD Sulfur Complex Project

    Jōb Industrial Services performed a Schedule A and TIC estimate for a SRU, TGU, SWS, Cooling Tower and MCC for a Rocky Mountain Region refiner.

  • Boiler Project

    Jōb Industrial Services was called to engineer and develop piping design for a temporary boiler at a Rocky Mountain Region refiner, while the existing permanent boiler was being repaired. We performed a stress analysis on the piping and modeled the temporary piping utilizing laser scans of the refinery. This allowed us to analyze the system in its entirety and avoid any overstress to the structure. Laser scanning was also used to locate tie-in-points, locations for supports on the new temporary boiler piping and to make sure there was adequate spacing for the temporary boiler. Our client was able make the necessary repairs to their current system while remaining in operation.

  • SRU/Amine Evaluation

    Jōb Industrial Services performed the process design and evaluation for changes needed for existing fuel gas absorber, amine regeneration and SRU to handle new composition of acid gas for a Rocky Mountain Region refiner.

  • 84,000 SCFH Flare Gas Recovery Unit Project

    Jōb Industrial Services performed the process design, 3D detail design, procurement of major equipment & instrumentation, fabrication of skids and provided operator training and start up assistance a Western Region refiner.

  • 550 GPM Amine Unit Project

    Jōb Industrial Services performed the process design, 3D details design and procurement of major equipment and instrumentation at a Western Region refiner. Jōb Industrial Services provided operator training and start up assistance.

  • Flare Gas Knock Out Drum Project

    Jōb Industrial Services performed detail engineering and design for piping modifications to existing flare line as well as process and detail engineering for the addition of the new Flare Gas Knock Out Drum for a Rocky Mountain Region refiner.

  • Southside BFW Treatment Expansion

    Jōb Industrial Services performed the process design for the addition of Boiler Plant and RO system for a Western Region refiner.

  • Fuel Gas Filters Project

    Jōb Industrial Services performed the engineering and design for the installation of fuel gas filters in the existing fuel gas line at the Crude Unit for a Western Region refiner.

  • 280 GPM Sour Water Stripper Project

    Jōb Industrial Services performed the process design, 3-D detail design, procurement of major equipment & instrumentation, & provided operator training & start up assistance. The new sour water stripper unit was designed to strip the NH3 (ammonia) to below 20 ppmw. While stripping out the NH3 to the low level, the H2S is stripped to below the 5 ppmw requirement at Western Region refiner.

  • 350 GPM Sour Water Stripper Project

    Jōb Industrial Services performed the process design and engineering for a Stripper Unit, SWS3, to be operated in parallel with the two existing Sour Water Strippers, SWS1 and SWS2. The new process unit strips sour gases primarily H2S, NH3, and CO2) from the water for a Rocky Mountain Region refiner.

  • Stripped Sour Water Wash Plant Wide Upgrades for HCPP

    Jōb Industrial Services performed the plant wide utility study for the 30,000 BBPD expansion project, 3-D detail design, procurement of major equipment & instrumentation, construction services, programming and configuration, operator training, and start up assistance at a Rocky Mountain Refiner.

  • Sulfur Recovery Unit SIS Retrofit Project

    Jōb Industrial Services completed a study to replace the obsolete interlock system for a refinery Sulfur Recovery Unit. Tasks included extracting & interpreting logic from existing PLC’s, creating logic diagrams from which the new SIS code could be generated. Participating in the HAZOP & LOPA and subsequent SIF/SIL determinations.

  • Bensat Unit DCS Configuration & Support

    Jōb Industrial Services designed, procured & implemented the DCS, SIS & PLC systems for a brand new MSAT II Benzat Unit including DCS/SIS & PLC control cabinet design, construction & testing in-house.

  • Honeywell GUS To HMIWeb Graphics Migration

    Jōb Industrial Services developed the L1/L2/L3 hierarchy upon which the new graphics were developed using a modified ASM specification from the client. Graphic review, approval, and rollout.

  • Refinery Expansion TIC

    Jōb Industrial Services developed a TIC for a significant refinery expansion utilizing Honeywell Experion. This included P&ID takeoffs, MCC & SIS requirements along with server and control room modifications.

  • Butane Recovery System

    Jōb Industrial Services designed, built, programmed, and commissioned both the regulatory control and SIS for a butane rail offloading recovery system.

  • Railroad Ethanol Offloading

    Jōb Industrial Services designed, built, programmed & commissioned a 6 spot — ethanol offloading system. Ties it into an existing truck terminal and shares an Ethanol Storage and truck offloading/blending system.

  • CO Boiler

    Jōb Industrial Services supported the manufacturer in the retrofit of a CO boiler, including SRS development, hardware specification, PLC/HMI design & programming. In addition, Jōb Industrial Services also performed construction, commissioning & startup support along with operator training.

  • Tank Farm Crude Storage Project

    Jōb Industrial provided engineering support to develop a high-level TIC to increase storage capacity of Black Wax. The scope was to repurpose existing tanks and then to also develop cost to construct for 3 new 120,000 BBL tanks and associated equipment, piping, and electrical to increase storage capacity. A new truck unloading rack was constructed in order to take advantage of blending opportunities. Deliverables for this project included: P&IDs, Plot Plans, Data Sheets, Heat Loss Calculations, Electrical Loads and Single Lines, Instrument Data Sheets and TIC Estimate.

  • Metering Station Projects

    Jōb Industrial Services was engaged by a client to modify 5 metering stations, for the pipeline that ran from Salt Lake City, Utah to Seattle, Washington, to allow for piping and inspection tools. Piping and instrumentation were required to add flow meters to improve leak detection.

  • Ammonia Stripper & Copper Reagents Project

    Jōb Industrial Services completed the process and detail engineering for a grass roots Ammonia Stripper and Copper Reagents processing unit at a copper mining facility.

  • Coal to Fuels Project

    Jōb Industrial Services was chosen to do a multi-phase project for an innovative new technology, which uses heat and pressure to reform, refine, and liberate the constituents of solid carbonaceous materials that contain volatile compounds and bring it to a large-scale operation. This process granted patents on 5 continents and includes 9 countries, including the United States and Canada. We reviewed sampling data that supports anticipated results of the innovative process. Jōb has completed Phase 2 , front-end engineering and is now actively initiating Phase 3.

  • Greenfield Lithium Plant

    Jōb Industrial Services worked closely with a client on a new plant that will process 10,000 tons of high-grade lithium per year from stockpiled magnesium by-product. The project included coordination of equipment specifications and procurement, piping and civil/structural and electrical engineering & design. The new plant was designed completely in 3D and the installing contractor won the Mountain States Best Project for the Energy/Industrial Best Sector.

  • Mountainside Vintage Substation

    Jōb Industrial provided detailed engineering services to replace their 1960’s vintage double ended substation at a Rocky Mountain Region copper facility. This mountain side substation provides electrical power to crucial mining operating equipment that operates 24/7. As part of the engineering design, Jōb Industrial developed detailed construction sequencing plans to reduce power outages to a minimum while also considering the safety risks of executing construction activities in close proximity to an operating substation.
