JEPCO was called to engineer and develop piping design for a temporary boiler at a Rocky Mountain Region refiner, while the existing permanent boiler was being repaired. We performed a stress analysis on the piping and modeled the temporary piping utilizing laser scans of the refinery. This allowed us to analyze the system in its entirety and avoid any overstress to the structure. Laser scanning was also used to locate tie-in-points, locations for supports on the new temporary boiler piping and to make sure there was adequate spacing for the temporary boiler. Our client was able make the necessary repairs to their current system while remaining in operation.
